Block Tales Paintball Gun

The Paintball Gun is the Chapter 5 unlock granted by Opticus the Magnificent after his Demo 5 survival challenge. Use it to break metal bars, open hidden chests, and backtrack through Demo 5 once Windforce is in hand.

How to get it

Complete Opticus the Magnificent's survival challenge

The Paintball Gun is given to the player by Opticus the Magnificent at the start of Chapter 5. You do not have to win a separate duel — finishing the Opticus scripted fight unlocks the card and adds it to the deck. Treat Opticus as the gate, not as a separate unlock step, and confirm the card appears in the inventory before leaving the chapter 5 hub.

What it does

Weapon-field card with a paint-splotch animation

Paintball Gun is a weapon-field card with a blue card background and green, orange and red paint splotches. In combat it shoots the chosen enemy and applies a paint-splatter status that combos with physical and field cards. Outside of combat, the same paint mechanic is what lets you tag metal bars so the next attack breaks them — that is the trick the Demo 5 walkthroughs use to crack open the shortcuts Windforce alone cannot reach.

Why it matters in Demo 5

Tagged metal bars unlock secret chests

Without Windforce or Paintball Gun, metal-barred doors in earlier chapters are closed. Once you have both, you can backtrack to older areas, break the bars, and open secret chests you could not reach in your first run. The Paintball Gun is the Demo 5 route key for any 100%-area clear, and Chapter 5 progression assumes the card is in the active deck by the time the player moves into the Seventh Sanctum.

Build shell

Stack it with weapon and field cards

The community-verified shell is one Paintball Gun plus two weapon cards (Crowbar or Darkheart depending on the route), one field card to spread the paint splotch across the board, and one heal or cure card for the recoil window. The card costs more SP than the early weapon cards, so use the build maker to check BP and SP pressure before slotting it into a solo run or a party comp.

Updates

The card is stable but routes can move

Paintball Gun is confirmed in the Chapter 5 card list and its mechanic has not changed through Demo 5 patches. Drop locations for the cards it combos with can move after a future Demo 6 patch, so recheck the Demo 5 walkthrough and the cards tier list before rerunning a route.

Quick answers

Block Tales Paintball Gun FAQ

Short answers for players who need the next practical action.

How do I get the Paintball Gun in Block Tales?

Finish the Opticus the Magnificent scripted survival challenge at the start of Demo 5 Chapter 5. Opticus grants the Paintball Gun card directly once he is defeated, and it is added to the deck for the rest of the run.

What does the Paintball Gun do in Block Tales?

In combat it is a weapon-field card that shoots an enemy and applies a paint-splatter combo. Outside of combat, the paint mechanic is what lets you tag metal bars so a follow-up attack breaks them and opens hidden chests.

Do I need Windforce or Paintball Gun for the metal bars?

Both unlock different shortcuts. Windforce gives you the mobility to reach the rooms, and Paintball Gun is what tags the metal bars so the next attack breaks them. Plan to backtrack with both cards equipped once Windforce is unlocked at the end of Demo 5.

Is the Paintball Gun confirmed in Block Tales Demo 5?

Yes. Paintball Gun appears in the official Chapter 5 card list as a weapon-field card with a blue background and green, orange and red paint splotches. The card is treated as a chapter unlock, not a hidden drop.
