How to Beat Finn McCool in Block Tales
The legendary 900 HP superboss of the post-game. His Celtic Shield reflects single-target attacks โ this guide shows you how to AoE him down.
The legendary superboss of Block Tales. A massive Irish-themed warrior who guards the end-game. Known for high HP, devastating AoE attacks, and a mechanic where he reflects single-target attacks back at the player. The community calls him the 'gatekeeper' of the post-game.
The Celtic Shield Mechanic โ Your #1 Priority
Finn McCool's Celtic Shield reflects ALL single-target attacks for 1.5x damage back at you. This means every card in your deck that hits one enemy will literally kill you faster than the boss. AoE or Thunder Strike โ those are your only safe damage options during shield phases.
โ Safe During Celtic Shield
- Blizzard (AoE)
- Inferno (AoE)
- Thunder Strike (stuns through shield)
- Any other AoE card
โ Reflected During Celtic Shield
- Rapid Jab (single-target)
- Power Stab (single-target)
- Fireball (single-target)
- Any single-target damage card
Weaknesses
- โ AoE cards (bypasses reflection)
- โ Lightning (stuns during Celtic Shield)
- โ Multi-hit combos (reflection punishes single-hit builds)
- โ High burst during Celtic Dance cooldown
Resistances
- โ Single-target attacks (reflected back)
- โ Fire (Celtic Shield absorbs fire damage)

Solo Strategy
The core mechanic: Finn McCool's Celtic Shield reflects ALL single-target attacks back at you for 1.5x damage. This means you must run primarily AoE cards (Blizzard, Inferno) to deal damage safely. Save Thunder Strike for when he raises his shield โ it stuns through the reflection. During Phase 3, he performs Celtic Dance โ a 5-hit combo that can kill low-HP players. Keep your HP above 100 at all times during Phase 3. The fastest kill recorded is 6 turns using a Freeze-lock strategy with Blizzard + Ice Dagger loop.
