Block Tales Guide
Sword route

Block Tales Swords

Use the SFOTH sword order to plan which swords to chase before Demo 5 and which boss gates them. The canonical order is Shedletsky then Ice Dagger, then Windforce, then Firebrand, then Darkheart.

Order

Follow the SFOTH sword order

Shedletsky comes first, then Ice Dagger, then Windforce, then Firebrand, then Darkheart. Some swords only drop after a specific boss is cleared, so chasing them out of order wastes runs.

Boss gates

Some swords need a kill first

Plan fights in the right order or the next sword will not drop. The Shedletsky first encounter forces the Ice Dagger, and the post-game Shedletsky rematch in the Secret Arena drops the upgraded version.

Windforce

Windforce is the mobility sword

Windforce turns melee swings into short dashes that chain into longer combos. It is the most-used mobility sword for skipping enemy turns and reaching back-line threats in Demo 5.

Firebrand

Firebrand is the Chapter 4 unlock

Firebrand is gated by the Captain Trotter fight on Mount Red Sun. If the shield phase does not break, you are not ready for the Firebrand route, and the Captain Trotter Pit rematch will punish the gap.

Darkheart

Darkheart is the late-game sword

Darkheart sits at the end of the SFOTH chain and is the only sword with a darkness-themed moveset. Treat it as a chapter-end reward, not an early game pickup.

Updates

Sword routes can change

After a Demo 5 or future Demo 6 patch, sword order or drop locations may move. Recheck the live game and the boss hub before farming a specific sword.

Quick answers

Block Tales Swords FAQ

Short answers for players who need the next practical action.

What is the SFOTH sword order in Block Tales?

The canonical SFOTH order is Shedletsky, then Ice Dagger, then Windforce, then Firebrand, then Darkheart. Some swords only drop after a specific boss is cleared, so following the order saves runs.

Which boss drops the Ice Dagger?

Shedletsky's scripted first encounter forces the Ice Dagger. The post-game Shedletsky rematch in the Secret Arena drops the upgraded version.

Do I need Firebrand for the Captain Trotter rematch?

Captain Trotter's Pit Floor 49-50 rematch rewards the Firebrand route, so the shield-break card shell that works on Mount Red Sun also works in the Pit. If you cannot break his shield phase, you are not ready for the Firebrand route yet.

Is Darkheart confirmed in Demo 5?

Darkheart is the final SFOTH sword in the chain. It is treated as a late-game / chapter-end reward, and its moveset is darkness-themed rather than elemental.
