SFOTH Sword Progression
🟡 S-tier | 🟢 A-tier | 🔵 B+ tier | 🟣 Experimental/Unreleased
Ice Dagger
A TierLow BP cost makes it spammable in early game. Demo 5 changed it to send a shockwave that freezes all enemies — making it one of the best early-game control weapons. Ice element applies freeze stacks for crowd control.
✅ Pros
- •Extremely low BP cost (2 BP)
- •Freeze chance for CC
- •Can hit all enemies with shockwave (Demo 5)
- •Best early-game spam weapon
❌ Cons
- •Low base damage compared to later swords
- •Freeze chance is unreliable against bosses
- •Outclassed by Chapter 3+ swords
Venomshank
A TierApplies a poison stack on every hit — 6 damage over 3 turns, stacking up to 3 times. Against bosses weak to poison, Venomshank can deal passive damage exceeding 50% of the boss HP bar over a long fight. Particularly effective against bosses who cannot cleanse poison.
✅ Pros
- •Passive poison damage stacks
- •Low BP cost for sustained chip
- •Excellent against poison-weak bosses
- •Works passively — no setup required
❌ Cons
- •Minimal effect on poison-immune bosses
- •Poison clears on boss phase transitions in some fights
- •Better swords available by Chapter 3
Ghostwalker
A TierGhostwalker was designed to ignore humanoid charge animations. Community consensus: "Ghostwalker is for charge attacks and superboss cheese." It allows players to bypass enemy wind-up animations and has unique interactions with bosses who have charge-phase transitions, effectively skipping certain attack patterns.
✅ Pros
- •Bypasses humanoid charge attacks
- •Excellent for superboss cheese strategies
- •Unique phase-skip mechanics
- •Works on bosses who rely on charge patterns
❌ Cons
- •Less effective against stationary bosses
- •Mechanics not fully documented — experimentation required
- •Not a raw damage sword
Demo 5 patch may have affected Ghostwalker mechanics — community testing ongoing
Firebrand
S TierThe legendary sword of Block Tales Chapter 4. Fire element with guaranteed burn application on hit. The Demo 5 patch changed its pierce mechanic: "The Sword now only pierces half Defense (Ex: 4 Defense blocks 2 damage instead of 0)." Despite the pierce nerf, Firebrand remains one of the most beloved swords in the game for its consistent burn damage.
✅ Pros
- •Guaranteed burn application
- •Strong fire damage vs ice-weak bosses
- •Half pierce is still useful in late game
- •Required for The Ancients completion
❌ Cons
- •Pierce was nerfed in Demo 5 (previously full pierce)
- •Fire-immune bosses negate its main advantage
- •Not the best sword for pure DPS races
Windforce
B+ TierThe wind-element utility sword. Its signature pushback effect interrupts charging enemies and disrupts attack animations, creating free counterattack windows. Demo 5 buffed its base damage from 12 to 18, but increased BP cost from 5 to 8. The community remains divided: "We got the buffs, but at what cost."
✅ Pros
- •Pushback interrupts charge animations on bosses
- •Strong against bosses with telegraphed charge moves
- •18 base damage after buff
- •Unique CC utility no other sword provides
❌ Cons
- •8 BP cost is expensive for a utility weapon
- •No DPS efficiency improvement over Thunder Strike
- •Less useful in fast fights where bosses don't charge

✅ Pros
- •Highest-tier sword in the SFOTH progression
- •Community curiosity is extremely high
❌ Cons
- •Completely locked — no access in Demo 5
- •Ability and location entirely unknown
